Why Wheat?

Southern Arizona is part of the Sonoran Desert, which even though it has 2 rainy seasons per year, still only averages about 1/2 acre foot of rain per year. So it goes without saying, if you are going to grow food on this desert, you will need to add water.

With the growing population in this arid region competing for the limited supply of water, it is essential to grow food at the proper time of year and to grow crops that use the least amount of water. Organically grown heritage wheat varieties then take the center stage and shine brightly!! Heritage varieties are tougher and have greater flavor.

“Combine working in field”

Cooler weather limits growth of competing weeds, facilitating chemical free growing for a much healthier end food product.

Heritage wheat uses 1/4 to 1/3 of the water needed to grow many other conventional crops.

Wheat is a product that can go into a multitude of food and beverages. Wheat is a product which with proper preparation can store well for many years.
